Spontaneous rupture of a splenic artery aneurysm causing acute abdomen in a 19-year-old male patient: a case report

Introduction A splenic artery aneurysm is considered an abnormal dilatation of the layers greater than 1 cm in diameter. First described by Beaussier 1770, it affects 1% population but carries a major risk for life-threatening complications rupture 3%–10% cases regardless its congenital or acquired etiology. The presentation highly variable, from asymptomatic incidental discovery during routine imaging to aneurysmal causing acute abdomen, massive gastrointestinal bleeding, and hemorrhagic shock. Case Herein, we present 19-year-old male patient who presented with epigastric pain abdominal rigidity associated moderate amount free peritoneal fluid that was found be ruptured SAA after immediate laparoscopy, which successfully managed splenectomy. Conclusion SAAs are rare etiology abdomen shock have very high mortality even upon intervention, requiring level vigilance low threshold surgical intervention unstable patients presenting pain.
